Food Southern Barbarian specializes in homestyle Yunnan food, including fresh goats’ cheese airlifted from the province, edible flowers and wild mushrooms. Our goats’ cheese was even featured in SH magazine as one of the 50 things in Shanghai you absolutely have to eat. Our chefs all hail from Mengzi in southern Yunnan province, home of “cross-the-bridge” noodles, a regional delicacy made up of rice noodles served with steaming hot homemade chicken broth. This is one of Southern Barbarian’s specialities along with charcoal-grilled barbequed meat, chilli-tossed mint salad, sauteed pomegranate flowers and, for those adventurous eaters keen for a culinary challenge, deepfried bumble bees. |
